PBLH Supports Maritime Charities
April, 2025
Palmetto Beach Line Handlers is proud to support charities in the Port Tampa Bay community, like the Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation and Tampa Port Ministries. We recently sponsored a "hole" for the up-coming Port Tampa Bay golf tournament, which helps to fund these two important port organizations. We're so happy to be part of the village that is Port Tampa Bay!

Fifth Annual Great Port Clean-Up
April 11, 2025
Port Tampa Bay once again joined forces with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful to host the fifth annual Great Port Clean-Up. Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was on-hand to help with this important annual event. For the fourth year in a row, our team cleaned up trash and debris near the shrimp docks on Causeway Boulevard. Check out the before and after pictures to see what a difference a few dedicated volunteers can make. This year, we were excited to be joined by several members of Senator Rick Scott's office, as well as Port Tampa Bay CEO Paul Anderson. Our team grows every year and we appreciate all of the volunteers who come out to help!









Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay Coffee Underway
March 11, 2025
Coffee Underway has become one of the Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay's most popular events. On March 11, 2025, Palmetto Beach Line Handlers hosted Coffee Underway at local event space Red Door No. 5. The weather was beautiful and provided attendees with a chance to check out this unique Tampa venue. We'd like to thank Dominique Martinez for donating the space and give a big shout out to Dana Mininson for all her help putting the event together.

Trinity School for Children Sneaker Ball
March 1, 2025
For over 25 years, the Trinity School for Children has been serving students and families in the Tampa Bay area, providing a high quality public school education. Their annual Sneaker Ball took place on March 1, 2025 and our PBLH team was happy to support their capital campaign to build a new Athletics and Arts Center. The event, which took place at the Shanna & Bryan Glazer Family JCC, had great food, auction items and featured local #1 band, the Black Honkeys. It was indeed a night to remember!







Port Tampa Bay Anchor Ball
December 7, 2024
The annual Port Tampa Bay Anchor Ball kicked off a season of fundraising for:

Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation - providing scholarships to students in need seeking to further their studies in maritime sciences and maritime related careers, and
Seafarer's Center - providing a home-away-from-home and and a non-denominational, spiritual activity center for traveling mariners to Port Tampa Bay.
Palmetto Beach Line Handlers joined a huge crowd at T. Pepin Hospitality Center to support both of these great port charities. As always, dinner, dancing and socializing were the highlights of the evening.

Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay 28th Annual Stone Crab Fest
November 11, 2024
Cruise Terminal 2 provided the backdrop for another beautiful Tampa evening as the Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay celebrated the 28th annual Stone Crab Fest. Palmetto Beach Line Handlers enjoyed the music, the food and the camaraderie with friends and colleagues from inside the port and around the Bay area.









2024 Port Tampa Bay 8th Annual Bay Slam
November 1, 2024
This year's annual Port Tampa Bay Bay Slam fishing tournament took place on November 1, 2024 and team PBLH enjoyed another beautiful day enjoying the views of the city from the water. Fishing was slow, but our anglers were not discouraged, because they knew their efforts were supporting two great causes:

Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation - providing scholarships to students in need seeking to further their studies in maritime sciences and maritime related careers, and
-
Seafarer's Center - providing a home-away-from-home and and a non-denominational, spiritual activity center for traveling mariners to Port Tampa Bay.

International Propeller Club Convention
October 23-25, 2024
Tampa was honored to host the 2024 International Propeller Club Convention from October 23 - 25, 2024. The Tampa Marriott Water Street was home to this international group of mariners who came to town to socialize, network and learn about the latest updates in the industry. PBLH Director of Client and Community Relations, Dr. Bonnie Peirano served as moderator for the opening panel discussion focused on workforce development in the maritime industry.









PBLH Provides Storm Supplies
October 21, 2024
Following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office mounted a campaign to gather and deliver much needed basic supplies to individuals and families in the Bay area impacted by the storms. Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was proud to participate in this effort. Our team delivered a car full of food, bottled water, clothing and other basic supplies to the HCSO Sheriff's Operations Center in Ybor City.

Opening the Port After Milton
October 15, 2024
Fall 2024 brought two major storms to the Tampa Bay region. Hurricane Helene, which struck in September, created flooding across the Bay area, and Hurricane Milton, which took a southern turn, sparing Tampa Bay the brunt of its water effects, hit in October as a catastrophic wind storm. The PBLH team was at the dock to welcome the first fuel vessels to Port Tampa Bay following Milton. We were proud to be part of the effort to get the Sunshine State up and running again!









Propeller Club On the Horizon Breakfast
September 10, 2024
Palmetto Beach Line Handlers attended the Propeller Club's third annual On the Horizon Breakfast which was held at Armature Works on September 10, 2024. An industry panel discussed petroleum and its economic impact within Tampa and across Florida. An interested audience from across the Tampa Bay region listened and asked thoughtful questions.

Propeller Club Leadership Luncheon
August 21, 2024
Hillsborough County Public School Superintendent Van Ayres was the keynote speaker for the Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay's Leadership Luncheon Series. Mr. Ayres spoke about the up-coming taxpayer vote to increase the millage rate in Hillsborough County. He also took questions from the audience, including one from PBLH team member Dr. Bonnie Peirano.








Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay's Leadership Night
June 20, 2024
Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was on-hand at Hotel Flor on June 20, 2024 as the Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay celebrated its annual leadership night to kick-off the new year! The evening's festivities included a celebration of accomplishments from the last year as well as a look to the future for Port Tampa Bay!

Peirano Family Foundation 2024 Scholarship Awards Ceremony
April 28, 2024
PBLH leadership team Chrissie Peirano and Bonnie Peirano who also serve on the Board of Directors for the Peirano Family Foundation were on hand as the foundation handed out scholarships totaling $8,000 to four local high school students and one future educator from the USF College of Education. PBLH has supported the Peirano Family Foundation since its inception in 2021 and is proud to partner with this outstanding grassroots organization.









Fourth Annual Great Port Clean-Up
April 26, 2024
Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was excited to once again support the Great Port Clean Up sponsored by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and Port Tampa Bay. Over 1,000 volunteers worked together to pick up trash and debris along the shoreline in and around the port. Our team members worked alongside the Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay to gather and dispose of a truck load of trash along Causeway Blvd.

Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay Steak & Corn
April 16, 2024
The Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay celebrated its 2024 annual Steak & Corn dinner with an educational twist! Dr. Bonnie Peirano moderated a panel that included local experts in promoting youth leadership and workforce development. Panelists included Olivier Millour (Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay), Yvonne Fry (Workforce Development Partners), Judy Paradis (Jefferson High School Maritime Academy) and Vanessa Vasquez (Cristo Rey School). More than 140 attendees gathered at the ESC Shrine Center and indulged on roasted corn on the cob and a delicious steak buffet dinner followed by an eductional panel discussion about how port stakeholders and surrounding businesses can plug into the workforce resources offered in and around Tampa Bay.









Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay Shrimperoo 2024
March 26, 2024
PBLH was happy to once again volunteer for this annual event, which drew more than 1,000 attendees! Guests enjoyed all-you-can-eat oysters, shrimp, refreshments, and all the fixins'! This event is always one of the highlights of the year in Port Tampa Bay!

Propeller Club Port Tampa Bay Maritime Industry Night
February 22, 2024
PBLH Director of Client & Community Relations, Dr. Bonnie Peirano, was honored with the Dave Sessums Education Award. Bonnie was nominated by John and Judy Paradis, Captain Jere White, Kelly Hendry and Jim Sergey who said that: "Bonnie truly deserves recognition for her incredible dedication to the Jefferson Maritime Academy. Her passion for helping students explore maritime career opportunities is infectious. She wears several hats and is always on speed dial. We don’t know what we would do without her. She always has great ideas, great connections, keeps us organized, and is such a wealth of knowledge for our Jefferson High School Maritime directors. As the Propeller Club Education Committee Chair, she is selfless in giving her time and expertise to the mission of educating the next generation of Maritime industry workers. Bonnie is a dedicated friend, mentor, and amazing asset to the Maritime Academy, and we are truly blessed and thankful for her unwavering dedication to the mission of educating students." In her absence, Bonnie's son, Zach Salazar accepted the award on her behalf.









Faith & Grace Garden Gutter and Rain Barrel System Installation
2023 - 2024
Continuing our mission to support the Peirano Family Foundation, Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was proud to partner with the Peirano Family Foundation and A#1 Seamless Gutter Solutions to install a gutter and rain barrel system that will help get rainwater to the edible plants throughout the St. Vincent de Paul Faith & Grace Garden located in Temple Terrace. In addition, we assisted with construction of the garden's new greenhouse which will enable the gardeners to provide a wider variety of fresh foods to the food pantry clients.

Propeller Club Port Tampa's 2023 Leadership Night

The Hotel Haya provided a great backdrop for the Propeller Club Port Tampa's 2023 Leadership Night on June 22. Our own Bonnie Peirano was installed for another term on the Board of Directors. The packed house included new and old members alike celebrating a successful year and planning for the future.








Tampa Bay Food Fight 2023, Metropolitan Ministries
January 31, 2023
The Tampa Bay Food Fight supporting Metropolitan Ministries was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on January 31, 2023. Palmetto Beach Line Handlers was more than happy to enjoy outstanding cuisine and beverages from local restaurants on both sides of the Bay as we helped to raise funds for the culinary program at Metropolitan Ministries.

Port Tampa Bay 7th Annual BaySlam Fishing Tournament

PBLH again participated in the annual Port Tampa Bay BaySlam fishing tournament. Our team reeled in some great catches. More importantly, though, we helped raise funds for two great causes:
